Sauna

For the past year and a half I have been going to the sauna weekly with my youngest. I have thought about buying my own sauna that I could have in the garden. However it is somewhat expensive and maybe not economically feasable in the long run.

If I am going to buy sauna, I do not want to have a small one. I want a proper size for about 4 - 6 people. It also needs to be on a solid foundation, insulation and all that stuff. There is of course electrical installations that needs to be done as well. I might also need to have a shower close by as well, so you can stay in the sauna for a long time and cool down in the shower. But all this adds up to a large amount of money. Sure, there is a convenience factor to it, but is it worth it?I am not sure if it is. A year round access to a swimming facility with a sauna is so much cheaper in the amount of ~$400 per year. If I need to have a sauna in the yard with all the installations it would probably be around $10.000 minimum. There is a long way from $400 to $10.000. From this point of view it simply does not make economic sense to buy my own sauna yet. It is true that it takes some time to go to the swimming facility and there is the cost of gas as well, but still it is so much cheaper than having my own sauna.

So yeah, I will forego the idea of having my own sauna for now. Maybe in the future, I do not know.
